How to Start an Online Business With No Tech Skills: A Simple 7-Day Plan

If you think you’re “not a tech person,” start here

I started my online business at 60.

Not because I had it all figured out. I started because I sat down one day, looked at our retirement savings, and realized we had not saved enough. And I had big plans for those years. Travel. Time with family. Time in my garden. Slow mornings without worrying about money.

I also had no idea how any of this online stuff worked. I didn’t know what a landing page was. I thought “email list” was something big companies had. Every video I watched seemed to assume I already knew ten things I didn’t.

If that sounds familiar, I want you to hear this first: you are not behind. You just haven’t been shown the steps in plain words yet.

That’s what this post is for. Below is a simple 7-day plan to help you get started. One small step a day. No fancy tools, no complicated tech, and no need to do it all at once.

Grab a notebook (yes, paper is fine) and let’s begin.

Day 1: Decide who you want to help

Most beginners start by asking, “What should I sell?” A better first question is, “Who do I want to help?”

Think about people you understand because you’ve been in their shoes. Maybe women going back to work after raising kids. Maybe busy grandparents. Maybe people learning to garden on a small budget.

Your step today: Write one sentence. “I want to help ______ with ______.” That’s it. You can change it later.

Day 2: Choose one simple path

There are many ways to earn online, and trying them all at once is the fastest way to feel overwhelmed. For beginners, three paths are the most common:

  1. Sell a ready-made digital product. Someone else created it, and you learn how to share it. Nothing to create from scratch.
  2. Create your own digital product. A simple guide, checklist or planner based on something you know.
  3. Affiliate marketing. You recommend products you trust and earn a commission when someone buys through your link.

Each path has its own costs. Some ready-made programs have a start-up fee, and some tools charge a monthly fee. Always check the full cost in plain numbers before you start, and only spend what you can comfortably afford.

Your step today: Pick the one path that feels most doable for you right now. Just one.

Day 3: Set up one home base

You don’t need a website, five apps and a logo to begin. You need one place where people can find you.

For most beginners, that’s one social media account you already use, like Facebook or Instagram. Keep it simple. Fewer tools means fewer things to learn and fewer places to feel stuck.

Your step today: Choose your one home base and update your profile so it says, in plain words, who you help.

Day 4: Write your story in a few sentences

People don’t connect with perfect. They connect with real.

Your story doesn’t need to be dramatic. Why are you starting? What do you want more of in your life? What are you a little nervous about? Those honest answers are exactly what will help the right people trust you.

Your step today: Write 4 or 5 sentences about why you’re starting. Read it out loud. If it sounds like you, it’s ready.

Day 5: Share your first post

This is the day most people want to skip. Please don’t.

Your first post can be your story from Day 4. You don’t need a professional photo or perfect words. Done is better than perfect, and every post after this one gets easier.

Your step today: Post your story on your home base. Then come back and reply to anyone who comments.

Day 6: Start collecting interested people

Social media is great for being found, but you don’t own it. An email list lets you stay in touch with people who are interested in what you share.

At the beginning, this can be as simple as a free sign-up page with one email tool. Even 5 or 10 people on your list is a real start.

Your step today: Write down one helpful thing you could offer someone for joining your list. A short checklist or a list of tips is perfect.

Day 7: Look back and plan one next step

Take a moment and look at what you did this week. You chose who you want to help, picked a path, set up a home base, wrote your story and shared it. That’s more than most people do in a year of “thinking about it.”

Now, don’t plan the next six months. Just plan the next small step.

Your step today: Write down one thing you’ll do next week. Then celebrate this week. It counts.

You don’t have to do this alone

When I started, the hardest part wasn’t the tech. It was not knowing what to do next, and feeling like I was the only one who didn’t know.

That’s why I built Daily Profit Coaching. It’s a community for beginners who want to build more income options online, one small step at a time. Inside, you’ll find a 7-day challenge to help you get your business up and running, simple lessons in plain words, and real people cheering you on. And when you have a question, you ask me directly.

Your results will grow with your effort and consistency, and that part is yours to build. Nothing is guaranteed, but you do not have to figure it out alone.

You can start with a 14-day trial. After the trial, membership starts at $19 a month, so you have two weeks to look around and decide if it’s right for you.

I’d love to see you inside.

Warmly, Olga
